mountains.
what can actually happen within the space of november 12th and february 16th is somewhat mind-boggling.
i did not intend to leave this for so long, but as it goes, life gets in the way. and somewhere during the last leg of 2007, life got in the way of everything. the tail-end of the year was one spent in misery and despair. i’m not downplaying it or drumming up sympathy. no need to cock your head to the side and shake your head with understanding. it was what it was. it was one of the lowest moments in my life - and probably too soon in a marriage to test the mettle.
but, much like everything else, together we got through it. with much thought toward our future, our fiscal health, and the refusal to ever meet up with real estate in a dark alley - we got our financing in order, we moved in, unpacked, made ourselves a little home to live our lovely lives and added a sweet little puppy to the mix.
so, if you’re looking for a tally, it goes like this:
-married in august
-honeymoon in september
-bought a house in october
-hell in a handbasket in november & most of december
-new year in the new house
-the sweetest puppy on earth moves in (although he does have a penchant for waking much too early, like 5.30am on a saturday morning)
-february, life goes along, as it is wont to do, with a bit more weight on our shoulders. but, our little house and more importantly our little life of love & marriage, goes on uninterrupted by the mountain of shit we traipsed through this winter.
we have decided, though, that 2008 is the year of the nap. granted, a wee little doggy makes that well-nigh impossible, but that’s a cake-walk compared to what was keeping us up before.
